i was looking on you tube the other week at old fa cup finals and the whole game seemed more fun. goalies caught shots, the ball didnt go in 10 different directions once hit.

I'm thinking of Clive Thomas's decision that put us out of the semi final and how that was totally outrageous in those days - now shit like that is the norm and no one is surprised. I said to my lad there'll be about 8 minutes time added on and he nearly wet himself 'As if'

personally i thought it was a 50/50 and there could be an argument that gerrard made the foul. i have an ongoing dispute with my brother over a takeover. he wants to stay as we are because when we actually do win something it is always through hard work and is well deserved and he does not want us to turn into a rich mans toy. i agree to a certain extent but the hollow football fan in me wants to see us win things. is there an equilibrium??

I think you've got to sell your soul to the devil in order to compete these days - I've just seen it with my own eyes. I'm just wondering though - how does it feel to know that your victories are 'bought' or 'ill deserved' - or do you just look at the trophy cabinet and keep smiling?

It seems to me there's a lot of hollow victories these days - or am I just saying that because we havent got a snowballs chance of competing with the big boys as it stands?

Thats my quandry, If we got took over by charlie big spud who ploughed millions into the team and we won trophy after trophy, I admit that that would be nothing to rotterdam or the 84 cup final, dunno if that is just getting older or realising that it would be false and unearned.
i know the 1st game of the season was terrible but i did enjoy the fact that the likes of rodwell and baxter were getting a chance.

I've watched a lot of crap in my time, times when we were seriously bad but somehow, these days it just seem somehow worse. I really do think football is corrupt and is a million miles away from how it was when I first starting watching seriously. I could quite easily have left the game at half time on Saturday, its just some kind of ingrained loyalty that keeps me in my seat at the moment. I really hope things change soon.

i know exactly how you feel, i go with about 13 in a minibus from old swan, dropped off and picked up outside the ground. its too easy for me at the moment. it will be a while before i stop going based on that, i cant knock anybody though cos over he past 15 years ive missed about 8!!!
